PRINT COMPETITION RESULTS

Here are the results for the June Print Competition. This month, the Illustrative Category had many high scoring prints and the judges were excited about the number of quality entries. Over half of the 22 entries were over 80 for the judges to choose a Best in Show from. The split decision came down to two entries both scoring 94 from Christine Morden (Best NonMaster) for “Papayan Sunset” and Joe Campanellie (Best Master) with “Got’cha…!”. The remaining places were divided amongst the prints scoring 89-81. It was an evening where 80’s walked away with nothing! A very tough competition in the illustrative category.

Portrait Category was also topped with high scores of 88/89 led by Michael Busada with Best for “Another Long Day” and 1st place for Karen Pallone’s “Caroline in Blue”. In the Wedding Category, Jim Ritch took Best in Show for “The Nature of Love”, with James Roy and Christine Morden cleaning up all of the 1st Places. Michael Dunphy was awarded Best and First for his two entries in the Album Category. Commercial Category 1st Place went to James Roy. “Psychedelic Stairs” and Karen Pallone scored a Best in Electronic Imaging Category with “Happy Father’s Day”.

We still need to get more entries for both Commercial and Electronic Imaging Categories in order for these two categories to continue. Album Category could also use more participation!

Nizam Mohammed, M. Photog., will be taking over as Print Chair in September. Please give him your full support, and as always, volunteers are needed to keep the competition running smoothly. Many hands make light work for all. I will continue to consult and guide as Nizam gets more familiar with the “ins and outs” of the details of the competitions.

So, get busy and get your prints ready for September!
